South likes: Curated by XXXXXXXXX at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen

Kunsthal Charlottenborg presents not just one, not even two, but rather eight simultaneous exhibitions by the Danish artists' group █████████, whose name has been banned by contract from all public announcements of the show. Eungie Joo, Augustin Pérez Rubio, Adriano Pedrosa, just to mention a few, are some of the curators in charge of curating the eight sub-exhibitions with works by the artists' collective. read more.

For her first exhibition in Portugal, the Argentinian artist Amalia Pica presents in Kunsthalle Lissabon Memorial for Intersections, an exhibition consisting of a set of three sculptures displayed individually, one after the other, throughout the duration of the show. With these works Pica continues an investigation about a field of mathematics known as set theory, initiated in the past years with some previous works. read more.

South likes: Alfredo Jaar at Fondazione Merz, Turin

Abbiamo amato tanto la rivoluzione (We loved it so much, the revolution) is the new solo exhibition by artist-filmmaker-architect Alfredo Jaar, who recently represented Chile at the 55th Venice Biennale. Especially conceived for Fondazione Merz, the show begins with an impressive large-scale installation made of millions of pieces of broken glass and mirror on the floor, covering most of the main exhibition space. read more.

South likes: Signal to Noise at Gallery Niklas Belenius, Stockholm

A lonely performer jumping repeatedly over a gigantic mechanical skipping rope created by Amalia Pica, recounts at the same time the mundane events of her week in exact detail. While the performer's voice gets increasingly tired, it reveals the effort of everyday speech and oral communication. The exercise continues until exhaustion forces the performer to stop. read more.

Urs Fischer creates a space halfway between the aftermath of a catastrophe and a surrealist dreamscape. In the midst of a psychedelic rain, the viewer comes across an accumulation of clay Freudian couches, occupied by what could be described as decapitated versions of Manet's Olympia. In what appears to be a still moment in time, the artist allows us to leave reality behind—the countless raindrops invert the notions of outside and inside, giving this show the essence of a dream within a dream. read more.
