Working Title: A Retrospective Curated by XXXXXXXXX
Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Danemark
13 December 2013 – 2 February 2014
Kunsthal Charlottenborg presents not just one, not even two, but rather eight simultaneous exhibitions by the Danish artists’ group █████████, whose name has been banned by contract from all public announcements of the show. Eungie Joo, Augustin Pérez Rubio, Adriano Pedrosa, just to mention a few, are some of the curators in charge of curating the eight sub-exhibitions with works by the artists’ collective. It doesn’t take long to unmask them and to unveil the name of the group, yet, by keeping it unsaid, it becomes clear that no strategy to attract new visitors will be based on the public recognition of the artist’s name—quite an unconventional approach considered this is their largest exhibition so far. Is it the revenge of the curators, whose names stand out alone in the press release, or just a new scenario for anonymity as avant-garde marketing practice (as recently suggested by the trend forecasting group K-HOLE)? Regardless of the answer, such a big retrospective on █████████’ work is not to be missed if one happens to be in Copenhagen, and, why not, it might also be worth a small trip.
