When entering the late modernist temporary venue of EMST, the viewer can easily be taken by surprise by the all domestic feast of the up-to-date. While public funding for culture is typically spent on everything but the current artistic production, the museum, shortly before its relocation to a new permanent space, hosts an ambitiously fresh exhibition that discovers and displays a new generation of young Greek artists. Even though there is no single thematic narrative, there is a tendency for contemporary insight on cultural heritage; such as a video showing the Parthenon spasmodically lit by camera flashes during the single night opening of the year and an emphasis on digital media, like an installation for an algorithmically controlled knitting machine. Perhaps a one-off opportunity to see a staged ensemble of what could indeed be an internationally-tuned emerging generation of Greek artists.
