Tom Morton introduces Panda Sex as a manifesto infused with humour about what an exhibition is and what it is not. Taking its characteristics from the species Alluropoda melanoleuca, the giant panda bear—paying little attention to sexuality, having as its colour black and white with sporadic colour gleams and rolling out a scent into the State of Concept—the show focuses more on how, than on what an exhibition might mean. Pieces, realised in different media, scale and shapes, with no common theme but maintaining their autonomy and ways of being in the framework of a group show, invite us to savour their “unaccountable and unamendable wisdom”, exactly as Pandas possess it and decide to subsist on a diet of bamboo.
